Students Explore Leading Hospitality Developments in Puerto Rico

In May, the Steers Center sent a group of 10 undergraduate and MBA real assets students to to Puerto Rico for a four-day real estate immersion trek hosted by Federico Stubbe Jr. (B’98, P’29), CEO of PRISA Group and member of the Steers Center Executive Committee. Stubbe generously gave the students a rare opportunity to see behind the scenes of luxury property and economic development.

The four-day experience gave students rare behind-the-scenes access to some of the island’s most ambitious real estate and economic development projects, and on-the-ground access at two of PRISA’s flagship developments: Distrito T-Mobile, a $250 million entertainment district in San Juan, and Dorado Beach Resort, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

The next day, students toured a Hilton dual-branded hotel construction project underwritten by the Steers Private Fund (SPF). They also had the opportunity to engage with industry leaders including Friedel Stubbe, PRISA’s Chairman, and José Ramón Pérez-Riera (C’93, L’96), the Economic Growth and Revitalization Coordinator for Puerto Rico’s Financial Oversight Management Board, gaining first hand insight into large-scale resort development, urban revitalization, and Puerto Rico’s evolving investment landscape.

The final two days offered students the opportunity to experience the hospitality of Dorado Beach Resort and explore Old San Juan firsthand. The trek exemplified the Steers Center’s commitment to connecting students with meaningful professional experiences beyond the classroom, and our wonderful alumni’s contribution to making this commitment a reality.
