Why & How I Left Big Private Equity to Start My Own Firm
John Wilkinson is the founder and managing partner of Boundary Companies, which he founded in 2014. He oversees the firm’s investments, developments, and organizational growth.
Under his leadership, Boundary has built a portfolio of more than seven million square feet through land entitlement, ground-up development, and acquisitions across diverse property types, including data centers, industrial, self-storage, residential, office, and retail assets.
Prior to founding Boundary, Wilkinson served as senior vice president in the investments group at The JBG Companies and held earlier roles with The Meridian Group in Washington, D.C., and CB Richard Ellis in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Wilkinson is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and is on the advisory board for the Center for Real Estate and Finance at Cornell University. He also serves as the treasurer on the board of trustees for St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School. Wilkinson holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Cornell University.
