Kelly Sewell Nagel

Steers Endowed Professor of the Practice & Head of Real Estate

Kelly Sewell Nagel is the Steers Endowed Professor of the Practice and Head of Real Estate at the Steers Center for Global Real Assets at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. She teaches undergraduate Real Estate Finance, graduate Real Estate Private Equity, and the multifamily clinic. She also works across the Steers Center on curriculum, thought leadership, industry partnerships, and student engagement.

Nagel brings more than two decades of institutional real estate experience across investment, development, operations, and strategy. Before joining Georgetown full-time, she oversaw Aimco’s East Coast portfolio of more than 5,000 apartment homes and launched and led the residential business at EDENS, then a $6.8 billion owner, operator, and developer of retail and mixed-use communities. She is also the founder of Residy, where she advises real estate companies and leaders navigating growth, change, and complicated organizational challenges.

Nagel is a Global Trustee of the Urban Land Institute, Chair of its UDMUC Bronze Product Council, and Senior Advisor to ULI Americas’ Women’s Leadership Initiative. Much of her work sits at the intersection of real estate, capital, technology, policy, leadership, and people. She is particularly interested in helping students build strong fundamentals, connect the dots across disciplines, and develop the judgment to lead in a rapidly changing industry.

She lives in McLean, Virginia, with her three children and is a longtime Girl Scout troop leader.
